Rules and Gameplay of 5-Card Pot Limit Omaha
Everything you need to know to start playing PLO-5
In 5-Card Pot Limit Omaha (PLO5), each player receives five private cards alongside five community cards. Players must construct their best hand using exactly two of their hole cards and exactly three of the community cards.
Gameplay Stages
The Deal & Pre-Flop
Players receive five private cards, then betting begins to the left of the big blind moving clockwise. Players can fold, call, or raise.
Example starting hand:
The Flop
Three community cards are revealed. The small blind position acts first, with betting proceeding clockwise.
The Turn
A fourth community card appears with identical betting structure.
The River
The fifth community card is dealt, followed by final betting.
The Showdown
Players reveal cards; the best five-card hand (using exactly two hole cards and three community cards) wins the pot.
Pot Limit Betting Rules
The maximum bet equals the current pot size. A practical way to calculate this:
You can bet three times the last bet plus whatever was in the pot before the last bet.
